Scott Smith, LMHC

Scott Smith, LMHC is a psychotherapist with over ten years’ experience in community mental health, working with individuals coping with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. Scott values the relationship between clinician and client, demonstrated with respect shown, validation, and providing a safe and nonjudgmental place to explore distressing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this process, you can find bespoke ways to live the way you want to live your life. As a cognitive therapist, Scott draws upon proven techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Scott believes that there is no problem that is too big or too small that can’t be helped by psychotherapy. By connecting with another person to start a discussion, you have already started the process of changing your life for yourself and those around you.

Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree in history and psychology from the University of Hartford, and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from Assumption College.
